Sly, Like a Demon's Eye!
In honor of Halloween, as with most other holidays, we here at Mercy Missiles are commemorating the occasion by inventing an appropriately themed cocktail. The potent potable is inspired by the song Demon's Eye by perennial Halloween soundtrack contributors: Deep Purple! Just listen to that organ solo! (Can you imagine the kind of irreparable damage that would've been done to our space-time continuum had Jon Lord and Ray Manzerek formed a psychedelic dueling organ solo band?)
Anyway, here's the recipe:
- 1/2 can Diet Cherry 7-Up (with antioxidants!)
- 1 oz Bourbon
- a dash of orange bitters
- 1 maraschino cherry (the demon's eye!)
- a dash of Tabasco sauce (although I'm not completely sold on this yet...)
- 1 cherry gummi worm for garnish
Pour ingredients into chilled glass over ice, stir. I may also experiment with a little sweet vermouth, but I don't think Deep Purple would really want me to complicate things too much...
